Panama Canal Expansion Presentation (Atlanta, GA)

Mr. Ron Kaufmann was invited to the Georgia Geo-Institute Chapter of ASCE in Atlanta, Georgia to give an after-dinner talk on geophysical applications for the Panama Canal Expansion Project. About 50 engineers and scientists attended this joint meeting between the Georgia Geo-Institute and Southeastern Section of AEG. Ron summarized the current state of the Expansion Project and presented mini-case histories of geophysical surveys carried out for the Project between 2006 and today. The case histories demonstrate the successful application of geophysics to map faults, characterize engineering properties of subsurface materials, and identify geologic hazards and anomalies.
