There are estimates of up to 500,000 abandoned mines within the United States, many of which pose a serious hazard for land subsidence and collapse. Spotlight uses non-invasive geophysical methods for abandoned mine mapping applications that include:

-
Mapping the edges of room-and-pillar mines.
-
Locating shallow tunnels and drifts associated with mining activity.
-
Mapping the lateral extents of large voids associated with stope mining.
-
Locating potentially hazardous voids beneath roadways and structures.
