Karst is a complex geologic environment that is associated with the dissolution of soluble rock such as limestone and gypsum. Spotlight uses non-invasive geophysical methods such as microgravity, electrical resistivity imaging, MASW, and GPR to help characterize karst conditions for applications that include:

-
Mapping karst features beneath power plant infrastructure.
-
Locating karst features within and below dam embankments.
-
Identifying voids beneath airport runways.
-
Assessing voids and soil piping within gypsum.
-
Mapping the extent of potential karst hazards beneath roadways.
-
Identifying karst conduits beneath dry coal ash ponds.
-
Assessing karst conduit pathways within contaminated sites.
